Assistant Capital Accountant

About the role:

As a result of fast growth and associated growth in complexity, we are currently seeking as Assistant Capital Accountant to join our finance team. This role will report into our Capital Accountant and work alongside one other Assistant Capital Accountant in the processing of, and accounting for, property acquisitions and associated entries.


Key duties include: 

  • Assisting in preparation of accounting entries related to housing fixed assets
  • Assisting the Capital Accountant in preparation and processing of acquisition payments
  • Posting and reconciliation of acquisition related invoices, such as legal fees
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including solicitors bank accounts
  • Supports Tax Manager with SDLT and CIS returns and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with accounting for Shared Ownership completions and posting month-end journals for cost of sales following first tranche sales and staircasing events
  • Working closely with Sales team to account for reservation refunds and returning refunds to potential buyers when necessary
  • Works closely with Rent Accounting team and supports with posting invoices, preparing payments and monthly reconciliation of rent ledger
  • Ad hoc reporting or accounting as required to support the dynamic environment


About you: 

  • Part-qualified accountant
  • Proactive and professional with high levels of attention to detail and diligence
  • Highly numerate with confident communication skills
  • Solid written communication abilities
  • Able to forge strong working relationships and is a great team player
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel (pivot table, vlookup, etc.); experience of QL advantageous
  • Highly organised and possesses a strong desire to improve current working practices



  • Part-qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
