ESG Analyst

The ESG Data Analyst will support enterprise sustainability/ESG (environmental, social, governance) and help us towards a more environmentally and socially sustainable future. This is a crucial role in supporting the successful implementation of the Sage ESG strategy.

This new role will work with the ESG Manager to deliver our commitment to reduce inequality, support our communities, protect our planet, and strengthen the Sage Housing brand. This work will transform our in-house capability, achieved by working with a cross-functional team, and in so doing will ensure that our ESG strategy promotes, protects and enhances the Company's reputation, both internally and externally.

Reporting directly to the ESG Manager and working collaboratively across the organisation, , the ESG Data Analyst assist in the delivery of ESG actions across the organisation in addition to internal and external sustainability communications and reporting, including tracking metrics, gathering quantitative and qualitative data, data analysis and evaluating impacts and outcomes.

This position requires an experienced and detail-oriented data analyst who is passionate about enterprise sustainability and who can operate with a sense of urgency. The role is core to assessing and managing the ESG risks and opportunities of Sage.

Responsibilities

This role will be to evaluate and monitor the impact of Sage in relation to the environment, social matters, and governance.

In addition, it is anticipated that you will bring creative ideas and establish sustainable projects that have benefits to both the company performance and the wider community. In achieving this it is anticipated that you will:

  • Assess the environmental, social and governance risks
  • In undertaking the assessment, determine whether specialist/technical assistance is required and recommend as necessary.
  • Work in partnership with the company to identify current ESG strengths and weaknesses and formulate a plan that will be used as the basis of your ongoing work with the company to improve ESG practices.
  • Produce Annual Impact Reports.
  • Collate data from local NGOs and use this to identify community needs.
  • Identify ways in which ESG can be expanded and developed and implement these.

The primary responsibilities include 1) ESG implementation and measurement, 2) Communication and 3) Data management and reporting.

ESG Implementation and Measurement

  • Assist in monitoring and measuring the impact of a comprehensive programme of initiatives.
  • Regularly review and analyse the risks and opportunities facing the business across all ESG areas and recommend adaptations to the ESG strategy as appropriate.
  • Work alongside the functions within Sage to develop their expertise in the ESG field and support them to implement improvements in this regard.

Communication

  • Support stakeholder engagement plans e.g. government, investors, regulator, industry bodies, peer groups etc.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for sustainability initiatives, taking every opportunity to communicate and educate others on sustainability topics.

Data management and reporting

  • Collect and manage data and own the analysis across the whole of ESG, with a particular emphasis on core areas selected for focus.
  • Provide regular updates and high-quality reporting to the Leadership Team, Board and ESG Steering Committee
    • Ensure that Sage meets all their ESG reporting requirements to their investors.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must have at least five years of experience working in an ESG environment or similar.

Exhibit a deep interest and experience in environmental, social, governance, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. Previous experience in communications and ESG reporting, or consulting is essential.


Track record of developing and delivering qualitative and quantitative sustainability and ESG (environmental, social, governance) reporting.

Technical knowledge and experience in sustainability reporting and with relevant ESG standards; familiarity with the housing sector is preferred.

Experience with approaches to managing for consistent and accurate responses and data collection, including leveraging IT solutions as applicable.

Proven ability to read, analyse, interpret and translate large sets of data into simple insights or reports.

A demonstrated commercial background with outstanding academic and professional experience.

Bachelor's degree in relevant area is preferred: Masters, MBA is an advantage.
